What to expect from your DJ

When choosing your DJ, you should expect them to be:

* Courteous

* Punctual

* Friendly

* Well presented

* Sound equipment in good working order

* All leads and wires should be taped down

* Public liability insurances needs to be current and

* All their music should be legal

You are unique and so is your taste in music. Try to think about the types of music you want at your event and the types of music you don't want and make a list. Think about what songs and bands you and your loved ones danced with in the past up until now. What concerts have you been to what was the first song you purchased. Email the list to your DJ at least 2 weeks before your event to ensure you have all the songs that are important to you.

Commercial DJ's

Usually Commercial DJ's have a wide range of music and can play most genres from all eras. I am a Commercial DJ and I have a lot of music and a large music collection. However there is no possible way I can take every single song I own to an event. Even though my collection is huge. I can assure you, I do not own every song in existence. This is why it is so important to think about your special songs you want before the event. I have never seen two identical lists in all the time I have been playing. There are with lists with similarities but no two have been identical. If you want that song I want to make sure I have it with me.

Most people are unaware that there is a lot of time is spent in the background researching and finding those rare requested tracks that belong in your list. Checking over the songs from start and finish, ensuring the songs are of good quality and if they match and go well together. Making sure it the right mix by the right band and the right singer takes time. for example there are several songs named "Sugar" by these artists:

Flo Rida

Robin Schulz

Maroon 5

Tori Amos

Garbage

Trick Daddy

Commercial mixes usually last around three minutes, however the dance mixes range from 5 -7 minutes or longer.

There are so many more songs that have references to "Sugar" in the title.

For example:

Sugar Sugar by the Archies

or

Brown Sugar by the Rolling Stones.

The more information you can supply your DJ the better.

My next blog will cover what The DJ expects from you.

Thanks for reading..

Nightclub Patron: " Hey DJ, can play that song with name "Sugar" in it?"
